Private capacity

Connect a private host only when the agent needs one.

Most app agents start with a server-side call to General Augment. Add your own Mac, VM, sandbox, private network, or provider adapter when the agent needs local state, private systems, code execution, or customer-owned capacity.

No private host required

Use General Augment directly from your app backend for in-app chat, product Q&A, memory, governed app API tools, approvals, traces, and app-owned scheduled workflows.

Private host useful

Add a connector when useful work depends on local apps, private network access, sandboxed code, internal systems, or customer-owned provider accounts.

Connector patterns

Customer-owned Mac

iMessage, desktop apps, local user context

Private VM

Internal services, private files, process managers

Coding sandbox

Repo checkout, test runner, build tools

Private network

VPC, VPN, or internal API access

Provider adapter

Customer-owned provider keys, quotas, and usage controls

Expose governed actions, not raw access.

A connector should expose narrow capabilities with health checks, policy, approvals, redaction, audit, usage, and traces. Keep raw shell, local filesystem, full credentials, and unrestricted desktop access out of the default product surface.
